Full-Stack Software Developer · Eugene, Oregon

Hey there!
I'm a software developer based in Eugene, Oregon, originally from Tallinn, Estonia. I enjoy solving problems and coding ideas into reality, appreciating the challenges and opportunities that come with technology. Outside of coding, I love spending time outdoors with my partner and our two golden retrievers, enjoying all the beautiful hiking Oregon has to offer. With a coffee (or tea!) always within reach, I like working on coding projects that are people-centric, and engaging in the occasional fascinating biology project. I love to connect and work with others who share a passion for making meaningful technology.

Experience

Lead Full Stack Software Developer, Local Contexts Hub

Local Contexts

Technical Team Lead for Local Contexts Hub — a full-stack application used for Indigenous data labeling. Developed from the ground up using PostgreSQL, Python (Django), and vanilla Javascript, hosted on Google App Engine and maintained in multiple environments.

Developed and maintained an API using the Django Rest Framework that allows users to get Local Contexts Labels and integrate them into other archives and databases such as ArchiveSpace and the Manaaki Whenua Systematics Data Collection.

Collaborate across departments to identify requirements and distill them into software designs and implementations.

Recently incorporated non-profit Local Contexts used to be a collaborative project for which I contracted under Biocode LLC from July 2020 and then New York University from June 2021 - November 2021, all funded by various New Zealand and US based grants, including the Andrew W. Mellon Grant.
